Rally For A Refund

On Saturday 18th August from 11.30am to 1pm at Blues Point Reserve, North Sydney we are calling on surfers, kayakers, sailors and all ocean lovers to join us for a fun ‘paddle out’ on Sydney Harbour to show that Australians support a 10 cent refund on bottles and cans. Strictly NO MOTORISED WATERCRAFT.

The event has been co-ordinated by the Boomerang Alliance and Tim Silverwood of Take 3.

Surveys show over 80% of Australians support a CDS but with heavy lobbying and a scare campaign by Coca Cola and the big beverage manufacturers there is no guarantee our leaders will listen to the people.
That’s why we MUST MAKE AS MUCH NOISE AS POSSIBLE IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS!!!

It has been reported that up to one third of all marine debris in the worlds oceans can be traced back to the beverage industry — this industry has avoided legislation to effectively capture their used containers for too long — CDS is tried and tested around the world and in South Australia where they recycle 80% of all beverage containers.
Research by the Boomerang Alliance recently found that 8 BILLION beverage containers are sent to landfill or littered every year, in this day and age it IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Please distribute the attached flyer and make every effort to come down on the day to support this important cause.

If you can’t make the event please sign and share this simple online letter to your local member supporting a CDS.
