Biography
Dustin grew up in Ballarat… nowhere near the sea. He learnt to surf on holidays in Anglesea and quickly became addicted! He later moved to Tasmania where he could have the beach to himself every day! Spending his late teens early 20s living all round Aus. surfing and doing the odd comp. During these travels Dustin broke his leg on the gold coast and headed back to Tassie. He has been based there ever since… “A place with world class waves once a week but not much in between, lucky I’ve got a great family and some classic mates. I’m not competing at the moment just chasing lonely barrels with my family in tow!”
Dustin and his wife Bec live at the “back of the dunes” and have two Boys; Sunny 3 and Harley 6 months. He spends his days working as a carpenter to feed the family and surf addiction. His passion and enthusiasm of the ocean sees Dustin still finding time to squeeze a surf in everyday, where he says “different boards make the sometimes crap conditions more fun!
Dustin also helps train Tassie’s surfing juniors, preparing them for national competition. And is part of an initiative in creating a marine conservation area surrounding Ship Sterns Bluff aimed at keeping the wave intact for future generations.
