Born from tradition and infused with modernity, our Triolet Jacket maintains its mountain focus the way a hard shell should: through heavy snow, driving wind and pouring rain. The 3-layer GORE-TEX fabric features a waterproof/breathable membrane bonded between a robust inner lining and a 100% recycled durable polyester outer shell; a DWR (durable water repellent) finish further fends off wet weather. The helmet-compatible, two-way-adjustable hood with a laminated visor blends protection with optimal visibility; traditional cord locks in the hood and hem allow for quick adjustment; an interior stretch mesh catch-all pocket stashes spare gloves; two Napoleon chest pockets and two handwarmer pockets stay clear of harness and pack lines. Other detailing includes low-bulk, watertight, coated zippers on the pit zips and external pockets; low-profile cuff closures; full-reach gusseted underarm panels for mobility; and an elasticized pant attachment strap at the inside lower back to eliminate gaps on powder days. With a concealed RECCO® reflector.

Materials

3-layer, 5-oz 75-denier 100% recycled polyester plain-weave GORE-TEX shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Weatherproof

The construction of 3-Layer GORE-TEX® Products is unique. A 3-layer GORE-TEX® membrane is sandwiched between a soft outer material and a knit polyester backing material that increases durability. These garments keep you comfortable and protected from the elements without adding extra bulk or weight.

The GORE-TEX® membrane has 9 billion pores per square inch, with each pore 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet. These tiny holes are too small for water and wind to pass through from the outside. But these same pores are large enough for moisture vapor to pass through, so your body's perspiration is able to escape and you won’t feel clammy or uncomfortable inside your jacket.

I could not be happier with this jacket! I bought the Triolet to take on an Alaskan cruise two weeks ago; the forecast was 50-60 degrees (F) most days, and this jacket served me well every day.
Our first stop was Juneau. Our group did a canoe trip and we were greeted with rain and 50 degree temps. I layered this over a Better Sweater and stayed warm and dry on the water. This zipper pockets protected my phone and wallet (and there are LOTS of pockets!).
Our next stop was Skagway- the temperature was mild, but the wind was brisk.. this jacket was perfect over a long sleeve tee.
Next, we cruised through the Tracy Arm Fjord. We were on the top deck of the ship at 6 am and it was only about 40 degrees. I layered this over a long sleeve and a hoodie and once again stayed surprisingly warm and dry.
I bought an XS (I am 5’4” and 120lb), in the Lapiz Blue. The color is beautiful, and the fit is flattering: a bit longer in the arms and torso, and easy to move in, not “stiff” like GORE-TEX can be. Highly recommend!

The "tomato" is pink
The nice tomato red of the jacket in the picture online is actually a ugly pale pink. I am constantly disappointed by the gendering of the colors of Patagonia clothing and I was really excited that a more "masculine" color (red) was finally being made into a women's product. Sadly this was not the case. The pictures on the website are not accurate at all. Other then that a very good jacket.
