“Twenty-five years ago, we needed stronger surfboards so we started this,” says Fletcher Chouinard. Patagonia’s new film, Foam Dust – 25 Years of FCD, thumbs through the archives of FCD Surfboards. It looks back at the characters who embarked on an experimental journey in surfboard material and design—building boards that leave the least amount of environmental harm. This is their indefinite history, where the stories aren’t straight; the cast can’t quite remember names, dates or places; interviews are censored for fear of legal retribution; and if you have any questions, comments, bills or concerns, you’ll have to speak with the general manager, Zach the Dog.
